2/26/15: Bug eyes

February 26, 2015

It is probably because babies are undergoing a tremendous amount of muscle development that they can't really control their expressions just yet. I know this definitely applies to when babies are cross eyed, but perhaps it also explains their bug eyes? I know Samara did this a lot too when she was a baby.

Me: Zane, smile for the camera!
Zane: no response, but bugs his eyes out

2/25/15: Cheeks!

February 25, 2015

One word: cheeks.

Zane has gone from 6 lbs 10.5 oz to an impressive 9 lbs 4.5 oz in ~3.5 weeks. That's a gain of 1.68 oz per day. The average baby gains about 1 oz per day. He is quite the chunky monkey now.

2/24/15: Seth and Zane - A series

February 24, 2015

Here is a series of pictures showing Zane's reaction to Seth's attempts to love him.

2/21/15: I have awesome hair

February 21, 2015

Here is a picture of Zane shortly after a bath. Look how awesome his hair is.

2/20/15: I am 5 weeks old!

February 20, 2015

Zane is 5 weeks old today!

Here is a rare, quiet moment when both kids were sleeping on me. Samara looks like a little angel here, but she was sick and clingy and had a huge freak out 10 minutes before I snapped this picture.

And here is a sleeping Zane pic.

2/19/15: Sleepy smile

February 19, 2015

I love watching Zane when he falls asleep after eating. His eyelids get droopy, his eyes roll around, and he does sleepy baby smiles that melt my heart. I can't wait until he starts smiling when he is awake.

2/18/15: Zane is ambivalent about the playmat

February 18, 2015

Zane sleeps a lot more than Samara did (at least, I think he does). So he really hasn't had too much time to play with any toys. Today he seemed alert and quiet after I fed him, so I decided to see how he would like the play mat.

He doesn't look like he hates it, but he doesn't look like he is having a fun time either. He does bat at the hanging toys, though. He is only 4.5 weeks old, so maybe he will like it better when he is a little older.
